Choosing the Right Materials
Natural Timber Seawalls for Your Shoreline
If you want to protect your Merritt Island property without losing that classic look, a timber seawall is a great, cost-effective choice. We use pressure-treated southern yellow pine or cypress that is specifically rated for ground contact and saltwater. These materials are built to resist rot and insects, making them a solid barrier for homes along the Indian River Lagoon and local canals where a natural wood finish looks best.

How We Build Them
Built to Stand Up to the Elements
We build our timber walls to last by driving heavy 6-inch vertical posts deep into the stable soil below the waterline. These posts hold up 2-inch thick horizontal planks, all secured with marine-grade stainless steel or galvanized hardware to fight off corrosion from the brackish water. To make sure the wall doesn't lean or buckle over time, we install tie-back rods that connect the wall to deadman anchors buried inland. This creates a rock-solid system that keeps your soil exactly where it belongs.

Drainage and Maintenance
Making Your Seawall Last
One of the most important parts of a new seawall is what happens behind it. We grade the land to make sure rainwater flows away from the structure instead of pooling and putting pressure on the wood. While timber walls usually last about 10 to 15 years, our focus on proper drainage helps you get the most out of your investment. We also walk you through simple maintenance, like regular inspections and applying wood preservatives, to help your wall stand up to the Florida sun and the constant shift of the tides.
